By working closely with the contractor, and tenting the site so that construction could continue throughout the winter, Birchwood Design was able to meet the challenges of time frame and topography. Paving, wall, and cap details were designed specifically to allow the contractor flexibility to build into the existing ledge conditions. Detailed grading plans were also developed, including terraced dining areas that follow the slope of the hill, in order to incorporate the existing topography with limited disturbance. Terraced areas with surrounding stone walls created smaller, intimate dining areas separated by planting beds and steps. The design showcases the exceptional views of Narragansett Bay from the new bar, outdoor patio, and dining areas.
