Composites are considered to be the wave of the future across design disciplines - from product design to architecture to furniture and beyond. This DESIGN WEEK composites experience gives an inside look at the benefits, the challenges and potential applications. The morning starts with tours of Clear Carbon and Components and Hall Composites, two Bristol-based companies that are leaders in working with carbon fiber to manufacture parts for the marine, architectural, defense, and aerospace industries.

You will be exposed to a broad scope of materials, products and processes with the goal of inspiring applications and opportunities to integrate these materials into your work. After the tours gather for lunch and a panel discussion at the Herreshoff Marine Museum and hear from innovation leaders in the industry: Eric Goetz, Chief Technology Officer of Goetz Composites, Matt Dunham, owner of Clear Carbon and Components, Ezra Smith, Principal of Ezra Smith Design, moderated by Bob Lacovara, Director of Education at IYRS School of Technology and Trades.
