The Steel Yard is a non-profit industrial arts center and shared studio in Providence. They’re a maker-space and non-traditional craft school, offering artist residencies, workforce job-training, public-art amenities, and educational programs in blacksmithing, welding, jewelry, foundry and ceramics.

In 2017 The Steel Yard embarked on a $2.7 million dollar restoration and renovation of their 100-year old, 12,000 square foot, industrial arts studio. These renovations, designed by the award winning KITE Architects, are directly addressing community needs. From basics such as installing heat and replacing a circa-1920’s electrical system to the integration of solar power, The Steel Yard will now be open year round, adding 4 months of operations to each year.

The Steel Yard invites you to join them and KITE Architects for a tour of their newly renovated facility as part of their Grand Opening weekend! They’ll be up and running after almost a year of construction closure and they can’t wait to share the future of The Steel Yard with you!

Kyle Bamrick

At KITE, Kyle has been instrumental as Project Architect for numerous projects inclusive of both commercial, and residential. Having a strong background in residential projects Kyle’s ability to manage the unique dynamic of a family going through the design and construction process has proven to be a great asset.

Recently Kyle has taken on a new adventure heading up KITE’s west coast satellite office in Los Angeles, CA. With the strong connections on the east coast KITE has been able to leverage our network to take on west coast projects. Kyle is currently working on renovation of a Private Residence in Glendale, CA.

Along with the move Kyle has taken on the role of Studio Director, working with the KITE team managing schedule, project budgets, and quality control document reviews.

Outside of work I enjoy burning some calories playing co-ed soccer during the week. Hiking the huge network of trails then hitting up the best local craft breweries.

My wife Beth and I are enjoying exploring the wonders of California and are always in search of the best tacos in the city.

Brigida Capicotto

Brigida grew up on the doorstep of New York City in White Plains, NY. From an early age she had an attention to design and briefly pursued fashion before discovering her passion for architecture. Through a technical drafting course, her interest in the dual nature of architecture as a pragmatic and aesthetic profession became apparent.

During her time studying architecture at Roger Williams University, she was fortunate to study abroad in Florence, Italy. There, she discovered architecture’s ability to shape the public space formally, sparking her strongest curiosity in architecture. That being the role context plays in architecture encompassing the intersection of the built environment with the historic environment.

At KITE Brigida is focused on creating spaces for people to create memories and experiences. She is currently working with Crossroads Rhode Island and their housing first initiative. Driven by her interest in learning, she is eager to expand her technical knowledge while progressing her design methods.

As a recent graduate from Roger Williams University with a Master of Architecture, Brigida brings four summers of experience in residential, mixed use, and education facilities.
