Design to Commercialization: The Impact of Industrial Design on IP

Polaris logo w commerce for event page

With a strong design and manufacturing sector and a deep educational institution base, Rhode Island has the structural pieces for maximizing the commercialization process. But what stops synergies and collaborations from happening? And how can we create intersections and collision spaces that realize this potential? In this presentation and charette, join designers, engineers, manufacturers, institutional leaders and start up companies to explore this conversation. During this facilitated dialogue, we’ll talk about ideas to market, intellectual property to product and connecting start up companies to a collaborative ecosystem. This effort builds off of the Manufacturing Innovation Challenge / STEAM ENGINE USA initiative begun over three years ago to fuse the design and manufacturing assets in the state, and led by Polaris MEP in partnership with Commerce RI.

Lunch will be provided.
