Marathon Clambake

Clambake is a gathering for designers, creatives, and those who like design and want to know more. It’s a time to get together, network, and hear about some of the cool new design work that is happening in RI.

In September, we host a special Marathon Clambake as part of our DESIGN WEEK RI 2019 Speaker Series. Instead of the usual two presenters, there will be four—all RI designers from different design disciplines. Each designer will speak for 15 minutes, and then we’ll move to a Q&A.

This year’s Marathon Clambake is generously sponsored by (add)ventures!

Free and open to the public. Food and drinks provided.

These events are being recorded and photographed. By attending, you give your consent to be photographed, filmed, taped, and/or recorded.

Kate Brierley

Founder & Creative Director, ISOUDE

Women are complex and dynamic creatures and with ISOUDE, Founder & Creative Director Kate Brierley wanted to offer a design aesthetic that embraced both the strength and sensuality of the female spirit. The vision is to create cohesive collections that represent a modern, feminine, and fresh collection: and to offer women options so that any specific fit needs are not a concern.

ISOUDE pieces were twice inducted into the permanent collection at the Museum at FIT. Kate’s work is described by the curatorial staff as “a return to fine craft and artistry in a world of mass production.” The ISOUDE atelier in Newport, RI is called “incredibly chic” by Vogue.com’s THE SCENE. Kate Brierley is educated at the Fashion Institute of Technology, the Rhode Island School of Design and the Haute Couture House of Chado Ralph Rucci.

ISOUDE offers two collections a year as well as a made to order and wardrobe programs for clients. The collection travels nationally for trunk shows and private appointments with personal shoppers and clients in the major cities. All ISOUDE pieces are crafted in the United States, and in 2015 the team opened a creative studio in Fall River, MA with a vision to create an ISOUDE institute to further develop the crafts used in the collection.

Tom Chiginsky

CEO & Founder of Audio Strategy

For the past 25 years Tom Chiginsky has been designing and enabling complex digital work flows and media experiences. He is now focused on voice design for voice enabled devices Alexa and Google Assistant, enabling organizations to reach their audience in the moment.

Previously he has co-produced over sixty crisis simulations around the globe. The simulations included cyber-attacks, mine collapses, terrorism, executive kidnappings and any one of a number of events that will challenge large organizations to respond to incidents and not allow them to develop into a crisis.

Tom also was part of a small group of technologists advising the IAEA in New York and Vienna, Austria through the Dept of Energy on building global collaborative process and tools to interdict fissile material that could be used to develop WMD. He has given presentations across the Dept of Energy’s internal television network and in person, the focus of which was getting the right information, to the right people at the right time.

In prior years he was a digital workflow consultant to luxury retailers with offices in New York, London and Milan. He re-designed and rebuilt ineffective digital work flows that enabled internal teams and external partners to collaborate more effectively.

All of these engagements required re-engineering process and breaking down cultural barriers across all management layers. Information moved from marginally distributed siloed environments to significantly wider audiences.
