Arthur J. Eddy
Principal at Birchwood Design Group
Mr. Eddy is a registered landscape architect in the State of Rhode Island with over nine years of experience as a professional landscape architect, project manager and business administrator.
Prior to embarking on a career in landscape architecture, Arthur accumulated eight years of business management experience at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. He received numerous awards as an area manager for exceptional bench marks in customer service, employee development and profitability.
Arthur also gained construction experience in his work with a stone mason, John Manchester, and later as a designer with William Warner Architects, on the design detailing and construction oversight of large scale commercial and transportation projects. He learned the importance of attention to detail and an understanding of building techniques and sequences, allowing him to bring projects to successful completion.
Arthur’s ability to see design through the eyes of a builder, from the ground up, is the foundation of his design approach. This starting point encompasses problem solving from adhering to client budgets, to ensuring constructability. Arthur feels that the success of a project is dependent on a combination of figuring out what a client wants, designing what the client needs, and encompassing aesthetic desires and sustainability.
Embracing environmental sustainability, Arthur became certified in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) in 2008. This extended knowledge base demonstrates his sense that collaboration between landscape, architecture and engineering can result in holistic solutions that benefit both client and environment.
