Climate Smart House Renovation

A presentation and discussion on net-zero ready house design and construction, hosted at the site of recently completed house rehabilitation/addition in Providence. This event aims to provide inspiration and insights into sustainable design for both design professionals and curious non-professionals. The event will include a project tour as part of the presentation. Presentation/discussion points to include: strategies for reducing the carbon impact of residential architecture; balancing new construction with restoration and material salvage; energy efficiency and the carbon costs of construction; project successes and lessons learned.

The house design also features custom metalwork fabricated in collaboration with the local industrial arts shop, The Steel Yard. Through this project element, the discussion will also explore the value and cost of hand craft in architecture.
