Based in Providence, RI, Alessia Arregui is a multimedia artist specialized in glassblowing, exploring the relationship between physically and digitally driven processes. Her interest in early Phantasmagoric effects such as camera obscura, magic lantern, and Pepper’s ghost which use analog optical devices for rendering fantasy correlate to contemporary VR digital spaces that she creates with 3d rendering and glass manipulation. Arregui’s functional glassware will utilize 3d printing technology to further the possibilities in blown glass surface texture manipulation.
