Ayumiya defines their work as non functional, functional, art (objects). There are no limits to specific materials but rather a focused commitment on listening to each one, deriving–never prescribing–the process. The aim is always to push the materials’ boundaries, while respecting their natural abilities. Ayumiya rests on a foundation of a lifelong creative, even if unincorporated, bond between two sisters. The studio is sustained by a celebration of each of their stories and differences; a true collaboration.
