Join DESIGNxRI in partnership with Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses and the Rhode Island design community at Moniker Brewery in Providence to celebrate the start of DESIGN WEEK RI! Fabulous raffle prizes, mini-PechaKucha, and the reveal of 2025’s Moniker x DESIGN WEEK RI beer can await!
Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is an investment to help small businesses grow and create jobs by providing them with greater access to education, capital, and business support services. To date, over 500 in Rhode Island and more than 16,000 business owners have graduated from the program across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
Through the program, you will gain practical skills across topics such as financial statements negotiation, marketing, and employee management, and gain the tools to develop a customized 5 year business plan — at no-cost.
Now accepting applications from businesses located in Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts and Eastern Connecticut.

Meet the speakers
Matt Cavallaro
Matt Cavallaro is an industrial designer living and working in Providence. His professional experience ranges broadly to include designing both hard and soft goods for clients like the US Military, Target, and various start-ups. He is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design (2010) and has been a teacher in the Industrial Design department since 2014.
Matt has extensive knowledge within the design and production processes for cast iron goods and has worked to deepen this tactile knowledge over the past 14 years. He has founded and currently operates two businesses in the cast iron space, Nest Homeware (www.nesthomeware.com) and Ares Iron (www.aresiron.com), which produce cookware and furniture components, respectively.
Alaina Mahoney
Alaina Mahoney is the owner of A.M. Design and Fabrication in Providence, Rhode Island. There, she and her team craft fine ornamental metalwork for discerning architects, homeowners and designers in the Providence and Boston areas.
