[CANCELED] Providence Modern! How Urban Renewal and Modern Design Shaped Downtown and College Hill

Walk with Providence Preservation Society staff through downtown and College Hill while we discuss Providence’s legacy of urban renewal and its underappreciated collection of modern, postmodern and contemporary architecture. The walk explores a side of the city’s history that is not well known and includes conversations about projects and buildings that were proposed but never built.

Meet the Speaker

Marisa Angell Brown

Marisa Angell Brown is the Executive Director of Providence Preservation Society. She is an architectural historian, educator and curator who has taught courses on preservation practice, social practice art/design and public history at Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design and in the women’s prison in Rhode Island through College Unbound. She has a PhD in the History of Art and Architecture from Yale University.
