Design doesn’t belong to one discipline, one definition, or one story. It is broad, expansive, and ever-evolving. Just as design cannot be confined, neither can its impact. We all benefit from it. Design belongs to anyone who sees a problem and envisions a solution. It belongs to those who witness, consume, participate and appreciate it. Design belongs to all of us, the makers and the users alike. None of us are passive; each of us shapes the world around us.
Design is Symbiotic
In a world where the gaps between people grow ever wider, design remains inherently human-centered. It prioritizes needs, fosters connection, and creates experiences that enrich lives. Designers shape our spaces, the way we process information, and the products we use every day. Design sustains a diverse, vibrant social fabric, it is how we live, interact, and imagine.

At DESIGNxRI, we empower Rhode Island’s design community to grow, thrive, and remain in the state they call home – creating opportunities that enrich life for every Rhode Islander. Our work goes beyond business incubation. We support changemakers, forge connections between designers and the community, and tell the stories of empowerment, advocacy, and innovation.

Your support of our Annual Campaign fuels the Design Catalyst Program, providing startup grants, mentorship, and professional development for emerging designers across Rhode Island. Your donation also enables signature events like DESIGN WEEK RI and Clambake: Creative Conversations, where designers and community members meet, connect, and inspire. Every gift helps talented designers launch and sustain their businesses, particularly those with limited access to education and funding.

With the resources and the education that I had during the Providence Design Catalyst Program…
We were able to level up our Westminster Pop-up into a year-long lease and create a new vegan bath line with additional 8 new products.
One of the most beneficial parts of the program was learning side-by-side with unique- like-minded entrepreneurs who were part of the catalyst and the DESIGNxRI staff that helped us throughout the whole process.
We learned that we, as creatives and our business is very young…
The program helped us realize how much we know and how much we do not, which help prepare us for what is to come. The program also encouraged us to do things at our own pace and appreciate what we have achieved (Thanks to our mentor Sara <3).
