We invite you to Marathon Clambake 2022! We are cooking up something special for you this year-our four speaker line up is sure to shine. Each is a trailblazer and innovator in their design discipline, and a part of a promising future of creative exploration. Our speakers will present on their passion and practice and then will be part of a panel discussion with YOU! So come ready for a good drink and great conversations!

Meet the Designers

Tami Hughes

Tami Hughes is a Senior Associate at DBVW Architects and has been a mentor for the Rhode Island chapter of the ACE Mentor Program since 2008. She earned a BA in Fine Arts and Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design.

At DBVW, Hughes manages a wide range of project types and sizes, working closely with young designers to ensure they gain the tools and knowledge they need to succeed. Hughes also serves as a board member and mentor with the ACE Mentor Program, where she works diligently to introduce high school students to the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction.

 Hughes was recently awarded the PBN Business Women 2022 Outstanding Mentor award and was also inducted as one of the Rhode Island Foundation’s Equity Leadership Initiative’s 2022/2023 cohort members.

Rebecca Marino

Rebecca is senior brand manager at FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers. As a part of the brand experience team, she is responsible for the management and development of the global brand including brand strategy and creative direction for omnichannel brand experiences. 

Previously, Rebecca managed the FM Global design team at as part of brand strategies. Before joining FM Global in 2000, Rebecca was art director at Tufts University where she managed a team of designers supporting all seven schools. Rebecca served on the board of directors for the
In House Agency Forum for nine years. Prior to Tufts, she worked in software, managing the brand at Banyan Systems.

Rebecca loves to travel and visually document experiences, paint with collage and experiment with color, especially in her wardrobe.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Connecticut and lives in Providence, R.I.

Jeanette Numbers

Jeanette Numbers is an experienced design thinker + leader based in Providence, RI. As Founder of Nova, Jeanette specializes in creating visually compelling, human-centered design solutions that are rooted in purpose and driven by research.

Jeanette’s work spans dozens of global brands and a wide variety of industries. She’s had proven success both in and outside of the corporate environment, leading teams in strategic design thinking, digital and physical product design, and final product commercialization.

Her career has taken her to New York, San Francisco, Boston, and finally to Providence, where Nova’s corporate headquarters are based.

As a longtime champion for local mentorship and community-building, Jeanette is excited to build on her vision for a collaborative and authentic design culture as chair of the Providence IDSA chapter.

Carter Richardson

Carter Richardson is a graduate from the United States Naval Academy with a BS in Engineering and served as a Navy Dive and Salvage Officer and a Surface Warfare Officer. After leaving the service in ‘01, Carter enrolled in IYRS’ Boatbuilding and Restoration Program, graduating as a member of the Class of ‘04. He founded East Passage Boatwrights in ’06, a company that specializes in the care, maintenance, and restorations of classic wooden yachts here in New England and in the fall of ’21, Hull #1 of their semi-custom production boat, The East Passage 24, was launched. The EP24 immediately received worldwide attention, winning Classic Boat Magazine’s New Build of the Year (Power) and awarded Best in Show (New Build Power) at the 2022 WoodenBoat Show. Carter is also the co-host of the Around the Buoy Podcast that focuses on the stories of those who live work and play on the water.
