2022 Schedule of Events
The 9th Annual DESIGN WEEK RI brings you EIGHT days of Design!
DESIGN WEEK RI is the annual celebration of design ~ featuring Rhode Island designers and entrepreneurs!
Each year, DESIGN WEEK RI offers talks, tours, panel discussions, parties, and more that showcase the design talent across Rhode Island – featuring and hosted by our many partners and design friends. Be part of this annual celebration of design in Rhode Island!

Making with Mushrooms: Spore Prints & Grow Your Own Mushroom-based Materials with Goode Landscape Studio
In this workshop, landscape architect and artist, Courtney Goode, will lead two interactive workshops where participants will be able to make spore prints and grow their own objects or materials using living, mushroom-based media.

Fabrication Fest is a two-day celebration combining exploration, creativity, and curiosity, all focused on design and fabrication.

Valley Arts Open Studios
The doors and art spaces of the Nicholson File Art Studios, Binch Press, Queer Archive Work, and The Wurks will be open to the public to allow people to observe and experience the artistic processes and products of the artists in our neighborhood, which includes multiple buildings of studio spaces. Some studios will give short talks and/or demonstrations in their spaces featuring ceramics, textile arts, printmaking and book arts.

Two former Pawtucket, RI firefighters Edmund Dalo & Brendan McCarthy will speak about their journey through Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and how their bond and collaboration over creating paintings and poetry helped to save their lives.

Taking her inspiration from vintage, Victorian lampshades, local artist Sarah Dunn will demonstrate each of the intricate steps involved in breathing new life into thrifted lampshades. Instead of using traditional fabric, Sarah will teach you how to use handmade papers from Asia; how to layer, pleat, and fold paper for a variety of techniques and appliques.
